Sewer work creates a stink

Motoring chaos could be caused by proposals to replace the main sewer in Barnham.

The current plans by Southern Water involve closing the B2233 Barnham Road for about six weeks to allow the essential work to take place.

The closure would stretch from the Downview Road area to just before the railway station. It could come into effect as soon as early October.

This will disrupt the travelling of the 1,100 students who attend St Philip Howard Catholic High School and Barnham Primary School. These are either side of the Elm Grove and Elm Grove South junctions with the main road.

As well as villagers, the road is also used by motorists travelling from the eastern area of Bognor Regis to get to the A27 as well as drivers from further afield such as Littlehampton. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
