Love purple food?

LOVE is in the air at a Shoreham café and delicatessen, set to take part in a nationwide tasting extravaganza.

Purple Love Week is the country's largest co-ordinated tasting event, running for a week from Saturday.

Shoreham's Toast by the Coast, in East Street, will be joining in the fun by offering special tasting events and an array of purple-themed sandwiches.

And, on Tuesday, visitors to Toast by the Coast will be invited to sample a selection of cheeses and olives.

Purple Love Week aims to encourage people to visit their local shops, restaurants, butchers and bakers.

Organised by Speciality Food Magazine and food producer Olives Et Al, the week-long event aims to support and unite smaller, independent shops.

Paula Waugh, owner of Toast by the Coast, said: "West Sussex is lucky to have an abundance of good-quality local suppliers.

"At Toast by the Coast, we focus on supporting local producers and are proud to stock produce from all nominees of the best Sussex food producer category at the recent Sussex Food and Drink Awards.

"This event will give our customers an opportunity to sample some wonderful local produce and have some fun at the same time."
