Spokeswoman Chrissie Higgins said: “Ever wondered what it’s like to be part of a big, fun, singing group? Are you aware of the health benefits of not just exercising your vocal chords but enjoying the company of others? Well, why not try out your vocal wings with Concentus, Eastbourne’s choir with a heart!

“Award-winning Concentus prides itself on being one of the largest and most vocally adventurous and diverse in the area.

“The choir is also twinned with a German gospel choir and enjoys many social activities outside of its rehearsal schedule. Singing anything from Abba medleys to more classical pieces like Zadok the Priest, and taking on genres including jazz, choral, classical, musical favourites and rock, Concentus pleases most tastes within its varied programmes. An ability to read music is not a pre-requisite to joining; a short non-pressured audition is required just to ensure that you are placed within the correct vocal range to suit you.”

Rehearsals for their Christmas concerts start on Monday, September 5 at 7.15pm at Willingdon Community School, Broad Road, Willingdon.

“The choir’s activities and antics can be followed on Facebook – search for Concentus Choir. For more information and how to join, please visit www.concentus-sings.com, or call Claire on 07920430162 or Sue on 07789343514. The choir is looking forward to welcoming you.”

“What does Concentus sing? Well, a little bit of everything really! From Faure’s Requiem and pieces from The Messiah to toe-tapping medleys from Abba and Queen.

"We sing together (currently over 90 members) in large groups, mid groups, small groups and with soloists. We have had highly energetic sing-alongs with picnics performing Grease, The Sound of Music and South Pacific to name but a few!

"We have sung in France and in Germany. We are always in the market for new vocal challenges and exciting venues.
