WICK HIT FOR SEVEN

WICK finished second-best in Saturday's basement clash at Piddinghoe Avenue, even though manager Richie Reynolds felt that they probably deserved something from the game.

There were a number of circumstances which would have led to Wick fielding a stronger side.

Midfielder Ashley Edwards was still injured and is another three or four weeks away from a return to action, and defender Tony Miles was suspended owing to an accumulation of bookings.

By far the worst factor to affect the side was the choice of a number of Portsmouth-based players to watch Pompey in action at Old Trafford.

Danny Horrell, Ricky Wilson, Jordan Willis, Matt Robb and John Oliver had all made the trip north.
