United stick to it in the mud

ON A pitch more suited to mud wrestling than football, Bexhill United claimed a well-deserved 2-1 win away to bottom-of-the-table Uckfield Town on Saturday.

United dominated early on and took the lead on 20 minutes when Dom Bigg was tripped in the penalty area and Sam Rimmer made no mistake with his spot-kick.

Soon after the home side were awarded a penalty of their own and Mitchell tucked the ball into the corner of the net.

United regained the lead on 63 minutes when Kris Kayne made an excellent break down the right and his well-placed cross was clinically executed by Wayne Jackson.

Oliver Leigh and Bigg both had chances to kill off the game but the single goal proved sufficient to secure the points.
