Sully paints positive picture of Sidley season

OUTGOING Sidley United joint manager Glen Sully painted a positive picture despite his side finishing in the bottom half of Sussex Division One.

United rounded off their campaign with a controversial 2-1 reverse at Chichester City United on Saturday which means they can finish no higher than 12th.

Sully said: "If you said to the people at Sidley, the committee and people who have been there a long time, five years ago that in five years time we will be considered an established county one side I would think they would have bitten your hands off.

"There was no way we were going to win the league this year with the squad that we had. Quite clearly it was not as good as two years ago (when they won the league and cup double) but we nearly won one of the bigger two cups. That was pleasing to get there. I would say that was the highlight."

Sully also highlighted the selection of Chris Copley and Russell Eldridge to the Sussex squad, and the promise shown by youngsters Matt Dadswell, Shae Spreafico and James Duffell.
