Pagham Cricket Club’s preparations for the 2011 season are under way.

Last season was an outstanding one for the club with the 1st XI finishing as runners-up in the Sussex League division three west and the second XI winning their section of the same league. The first XI will be looking to emulate the seconds in the coming season.

The club hold a colts’ sign-up evening at the clubhouse in Nyetimber Lane on Friday, February 4 (7.30pm).

They plan to run teams at under-ten, under-12, under-15 and under-16 levels in the Western Area Cricket Association leagues.

The colts will also be involved in the Sussex Junior Cricket Festival in August. There will also be some games arranged at under-eight level. The evening is for new and existing members (boys and girls) and their parents.

David Robinson of the Sussex CCC development group will be attending the session and will be talking to attendees.

Pagham also have two Sunday teams, Falling Leaves and The Nonchalants, playing friendly matches against local village sides.

The club will also run indoor nets at Game, Set & Match in Quarry Lane, Chichester, starting on Sunday, February 6, from 1.30pm, with the seniors taking over at 2.30pm. They welcome new members so if anyone is interested in playing cricket at Pagham, turn up to the appropriate session. This also applies to Colts who cannot make it to the February 4 evening.

The club also welcome non-players who may want to umpire, score, coach and have the relevant qualifications - and even those who just want to watch and enjoy a drink while doing so.

If you wish to speak to someone, Colts and non-players should call Les Finn on 01243 266967, seniors Paul Rutter on 01243 779227.
