Littlehampton need 30 points for promotion

LITTLEHAMPTON Cricket Club need 30 points from their match at Haywards Heath on Saturday to secure promotion into Sussex League Premier Division.

They defeated Worthing by one-wicket on Saturday and fellow promotion-chasers Stirlands beat St James by 84 runs.

Haywards Heath, who lost to Chichester, can no longer finish in the top two.

After winning the toss, Littlehampton bowled Worthing out for 114. Captain Benn Challen took 4-13 and Chris Hanks 2-8.

Littlehampton then got home on 115-9. Indian Amit Gupta struck 41 with Worthing's Australian Kyle Bowes taking 8-45.

In Invitation League Division 2, Arundel won by six wickets at Horsham Trinity.

Neil Chitty took 5-41 and Arundel restricted Trinity to 174.

Australian Jamie Scardifield then smashed 52 and Arundel got home with more than five overs to spare.

In Division 3, East Preston went a long way to securing Division 1 cricket next season with a seven-wicket win over Scaynes Hill. Pete Dallimore and Dan Williams both took five wickets as Hill were dismissed for 164.

EP then reached their target in just 30 overs. Sam Mellor smashed 71 not out and Dallimore 57.

In the same division, Ram won the title with a 38-run victory over Clymping.

Skipper Paul Challen took 6-37 as Ram were bowled out for 151 but Clymping managed just 113 despite Graham Blann's half-century.

In Division 4, Rustington suffered a six-wicket loss to Eastergate.

They made 154-9 from their 49 overs before Eastergate cruised home in 37.2 overs.
