Little Common net top awards

LITTLE Common Football Club has been awarded two Charter Standard Awards from the Sussex County Football Association selected from clubs across the county.

The club received the Charter Standard Development Club award for its work in the past twelve months in striving to continue to raise standards in youth football through providing a safe, fun environment for young people to enjoy and participate in both friendly and competitive football.

In order to be eligible for the award, managers and volunteers have to meet specified standards and carry out appropriate training in the form of First Aid, child protection and coaching courses while decent changing and washing amenities must be available.

The club runs weekly training sessions for children aged five to 13 and hopes to form a girls section next season.

The work of club member Daniel Eldridge was also recognised as he received the Charter Standard Club Administrator award. He commented: "To have been selected to receive two awards is an excellent achievement for the club as a whole. These awards not only recognise the work that is carried out at committee level but highlight the effort, dedication and support that the club receives from its players, parents and managers."

Little Common will now represent Sussex at the regional awards to be held later this month.
