JIMMY LINES UP WITH THE ROCKET

JIMMY Robertson will be playing in the same competitions as Stephen Hendry and Ronnie O'Sullivan next season after securing a place on the prestigious World Snooker Professional Tour.

The 16-year-old from Bexhill will be the youngest player on the tour and he said: "I can't wait for the season to start. There are so many good players out there who never get a chance to be on the main tour, so to be there at 16 is a dream come true.

"I felt confident all week and wasn't really nervous even though I haven't been playing at my best."

Jimmy qualified by winning the Junior World Play-offs at Prestatyn, North Wales, but the Q-Ball and Classic Racing Bookmakers (Eastbourne) sponsored player will have to work hard to stay on the tour.

His father Brian said: "It's a fantastic achievement but it'll be very difficult next year.

"He'll be hoping to win at least one game every tournament to guarantee his place and earn some money, but there's always a danger him paying the 2,000 registration fee and all his expenses and not winning a match."

Jimmy will have to win at least five games in one of the tour's competitions to have a chance of facing one of the top 32 players.
