Hutch keeps Village on track

Maresfield Village maintained their challenge for the premier division title with a 1-0 win at Lindfield, Keith Hutchinson grabbing the winner.

Old Varndeanians remain top on goal difference after a 2-1 home win over Balcombe while East Grinstead United look potential champions following a 4-1 win at home to Cuckfield Town. Maresfield Village are at home to United tomorrow.

Newick won the relegation battle with Buxted 2-0, Adam Tiley and Simon Rider scoring, but Lewes Bridge View went under 3-1 at Wisdom Sports, Warren Wadsworth netting their consolation.

David Scarlett got on the scoresheet as Jarvis Brook drew 1-1 at home to Hassocks 3rds.

In division one Lloyd scored twice and Gardiner once as Barcombe were 3-0 winners at Wisdom Sports 2nds, while Uckfield Town 2nds were held 2-2 at home in the bottom-of-the-table battle with Ardingly. Gadsby-Houlton and Miller scored for Town.

Hodgson, Mulvee and Hutchinson got on the scoresheet as Village of Ditchling drew 3-3 at home to Sporting Lindfield.

In division three Willingdon Athletic 2nds lost their 100 per cent league record as leaders Cuckfield Wheatsheaf beat them 1-0.

In division four Fletching chalked up a 2-1 win over Ardingly 2nds, Bradford and Wolvey scoring for the hosts, and Chailey were 3-1 winners over Wealden 3rds with Booth, Downey and Ransom getting the goals.

Allen (two), McGuinness and Emery were on target for Lewes Bridge View 2nds in a 4-3 win at home to Dormansland Rockets, and Honeysett and Boarer were the Uckfield Town 3rds scorers in a 2-1 home victory against Old Varndeanians 3rds.

Leppard netted in Crowborough Athletic 3rds's 3-1 defeat at Nutley 2nds.

Willingdon Athletic are through to the semi-finals of the Mid-Sussex League Senior Charity Cup after beating Plumpton Athletic 4-2 on Saturday. Adel Robio, Kevin Lock, Glenn Mitchell and Ryan Santon scored the Willingdon goals with Lee Sale netting both for Plumpton.

Tomorrow Willingdon meet Ifield Edwards in the semi-finals while Wisdom Sports play Horsham YMCA 2nds.

Willingdon 2nds are also in cup action tomorrow when they meet Rotherfield in the semi-finals of the Junior Charity Cup. Rotherfield beat Cuckfield Town 2nds 1-0 in Saturday, when Taylor scored the goal.

Willingdon 3rds lost in the semi-finals of the Stratford Challenge Cup, going under 3-2 to Ashurst Wood 2nds.
