H&B confident of bouncing back

ASSISTANT coach Rob Hamilton believes Hastings & Bexhill will bounce back stronger than ever from their rugby play-off disappointment.

H&B lost 10-0 to Kent League runners-up Ashford on Saturday to dash their hopes of playing in London League Division Four next season.

But Hamilton insists the club will recover and has no fear of losing players. He said: "I'm sure we can win it. We're not frightened of Heathfield (who were relegated from London Four) and we've already dealt with everyone else in the league. We really lost the league because of that poor period in the middle. I don't see any reason why we should not win it."

Despite the club's failure to earn that elusive promotion place, Hamilton maintained that the club had still enjoyed a productive campaign which saw them beaten only three times on the way to the runners-up spot in Sussex One.

He said: "It was a disappointing end to the season but it's been a very successful season. Second place is hardly a failure and we've got a very young side. We've got eight players in their teens and early 20s."
