Golds smash 10 past Dover

CHAMPIONS Littlehampton Ladies FC thrashed Dover for the second time this season on Sunday.

Having won 9-1 at home in September, Golds went one better despite having four first-team players missing.

Dover, on a hard, bumpy pitch, almost took an early lead but a lob from the edge of the area bounced off the top of the bar.

As the half wore on, Golds upped the pace and were 3-0 ahead at half-time with goals from Kylie Wren, Charlotte Bennett and Wendy Grant. A quickfire treble from Bennett at the start of the second half moved her onto 21 goals for the season and increased Littlehampton's lead to 6-0.

Grant notched her second before playing through Jan Why, who fired into the top corner from 20 yards.

Dover pulled a goal back but Golds soon restored their eight-goal lead when Stacy Ryan's free kick was struck home by Sara Hinton. There was still time for Grant to complete her eighth hat-trick of the season to move on to 45 goals.

The midfield trio of Bennett, Marcela Kollarikova and Wren all shone for Golds.

LITTLEHAMPTON: Coles; Folly, Halford, Ryan, Mayer; Kollarikova, Bennett, Wren; Why, Grant, Hinton.
