Gannclefft captains South East England to national title

Warden Park Year 8 pupil Ryan Ganniclefft captained the South East England under-13 boys basketball team to winning the annual Basketball England Regional Development Tournament,

This is a national event involving all 10 of the English regions.

This is the first time in over a decade that the South East under-13 team have won the prestigious event.

The team were undefeated in the tournament, beating Yorkshire, East Midlands, North West and North East in the group stages.

They then went on to beat London in a competitive semi-final.

On Sunday the team beat reigning champions the East to lift the trophy.

Ryan is pictured with basketball England officials receiving the award. Nick McAdam, head coach of Haywards Heath Eagles (pictured left in the group) was a key part of the coaching team who led the campaign to win.
