United sponsor search continues

Hastings United have still to find a main sponsor for next season and chairman Dave Walters believes any business that comes on board “could make a huge difference” to the on-the-field fortunes of the football club.

The Ryman Premier outfit has just concluded a successful tie-up with Hastings Local and the absence of a replacement main sponsor will have a direct affect on the playing budget.

Walters said: “We are looking for a new main sponsor for next season and this is a vital part of running the club. In recent years the commercial side has brought in very similar amounts to the money coming in through the turnstiles and this year it has considerably exceeded it.

“Unsurprisingly the contribution made by the main sponsor is the centrepiece of the commercial side. Over the last seven years we have managed to secure a main sponsor, although one year we had to run a ‘main sponsor promotion’.”

He went on: “As things stand we do not have a sponsor for next season and if we are unable to find one this will have a direct effect on the playing budget. We have done some initial calculations to give Jason (Hastings manager Jason Hopkinson) some idea of how much he has to work with and naturally we have not been able to include any main sponsorship contribution.

“However, if we do secure a sponsor this will go directly to the playing budget as we have had to take account already of the various other expenses that we know we will incur. We are confident that the budget will be competitive even without a sponsor but obviously being able to significantly increase it could make a huge difference.

“We would be very happy to talk to any prospective main sponsors and would look to provide them with an arrangement that would benefit both organisations.”
