Rae Rothwell continued her fine run of form with an incendiary strike for a goal on three minutes. Southdown continued to press and immediately built an attack from the back with Mia Pordage showing great poise and touch to go 2 up on seven minutes.

Chichester galvanised their efforts only to be met by the unwavering defence of skipper, Charlotte Symmons and the mature positional play of Kelly Fuller. The second half started with Player of the Day, Holly Buckfield pulling the strings in midfield going close on numerous occasions. Debutante, Millie Virgo impressed up front never allowing the Chichester defence to rest. That pressure eventually told midway through the second half with Libby Ackland-Hancock picking up a pass on the edge of the box, rounding the keeper and slotting home. Chichester managed to threaten the Southdown goal, but ‘keeper, Zahra Cheeseman was ever alert to the danger.

With 10 minutes to go Olivia Hudson picked up the ball deep in defence and weaved a spellbinding run, finding the effervescent Sophie Hooper who saw off the attentions of a robust defence for Southdown’s 4th goal sealing the victory. The team dedicated the victory to team mate Libby Trotter who is ruled out for most of this season, but will strengthen this emerging side on her return.
