Mullets end Golds’ unbeaten league start

The Mullets fell behind in the first-half but a brace from Scott Tipper meant the hosts’ secured all three points.

Arundel boss Simon Butler was delighted after his side picked up the win and said: “It was a fantastic win, I asked the boys to take it on from Saturday after a good win and that’s exactly what they did.

“We hit the crossbar a couple of times and their keeper had to make a couple of really good saves so I felt we deserved the win in the end.

“Sometimes you look back on matches and say maybe we rode our luck their a little but we certainly didn’t do that and fully deserved the win.

“I’ve got nothing but admiration for everyone individual who played in this.

“I told the lads before the game we are in fourth position go out and have a go at them and tonight we showed what a good side we are.”

The game started in controversial fashion after both side’s had a man sent off.

Arundel had Robert Grove dismissed, while Golds had Danny Hand sent off following an off the ball incident.

It was the visitors’ who took the lead four minutes before the break, as Scott packer headed home a George Landais corner.

Arundel responded well to falling a goal behind and dominating proceedings in the second-half.

Just two minutes after the restart Liam Da Costa broke down the left and fired a superb cross onto Tipper’s head, who made no mistake with the finish.

Rory Biggs’ should have put his side ahead on 56 minutes but he shot against the bar from five yards out.

However, Arundel did managed to snatch a winner with eight minutes left.

Jordan Clark whipped in a pinpoint corner, which found Tipper who controlled the ball and side-footed home to secure the win for The Mullets’.
