Manager Mark Yates had given the wantaway player time off to allow the rest of the squad to focus on their opening two games.

But having not selecting him against Oxford United and Peterborough United, today the Reds boss did not rule out the club’s topscorer from making a dramatic return.

Speaking at this afternoon’s press conference, Yates said: “He trained today and with 48 hours to the game we’ll see what happens for the weekend.

“He’s in and around the group today and we’ll see what happens. I haven’t spoken to him properly, but at least he’s in today.

“I haven’t got an issue personally with Izale apart from he didn’t want to play for the club. End of story.

“I want good players here, people who can score goals, people who can stop them at the other end, people who can create them in the middle of the park and from wide areas.

“Izale fits into one of those categories. It was unfortunate what happened. I don’t think it was the right way to go about it and we’re dealing with it.

“If I decide to throw him in Saturday, he’s my player, I don’t see why I am not able do that. So I’ll have a chat with him tomorrow.”
