Sutton sit 10th in their league table, two divisions above the Hillians, but manager Ian Chapman say the Hillians are ‘ready to give it a proper go’.

Speaking on Tuesday he said “Saturday’s game at Sutton United is another Cup Final for the Club, obviously they are going to be massive favourites but we go their full of confidence and we will give it a proper go”.

“To get anything we will probably need to be exceptional and also need Sutton to be massively off form but that’s what the FA Cup is all about”.

Chapman, like the Hillians fans, will be hoping their side can cause an upset just as their hosts did in 1989. That famous giant killing day they defeated Coventry City who, at the time were in the top tier of English Football and included former Hillians Coach Paul Rogers in their side and he will be guest of honour at Saturday’s tie.

Chapman added “Sutton themselves have in the past produced a really big FA Cup upset when they knocked Coventry out all those years ago”.

“With resting the entire team in our Robert Dyas League Cup game at Redhill on Tuesday night, we have a full squad to choose from for this cup tie”.

Hillians have already knocked out Eastbourne Town (1-0), Croydon (3-2) and Fleet Town (4-0) to get to this stage of the competition whilst Sutton moved passed Essex side FC Romania (3-2) in the previous round and this will be the first time the two sides have met in a competitive fixture.

A large contingent of Hill fans are expected to travel to Sutton on Saturday and local sports shop and official Teamwear suppliers of the Ryman League side, GR Teamwear, are supporting the Hillians in the FA Cup by offering fans 20% off the price of the Hillians Scarves. The offer runs until Saturday and they can be purchased in the store on Church Road in the Town.

Hillians League game against Walton & Hersham that was scheduled to be played this Saturday has now been re-arranged for Wednesday 19th November.
