Former Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Graham Potter has a number of injury concerns to his Chelsea team as he prepares to face his old club at the Amex Stadium this Saturday.

Potter has had a flying start to his Chelsea career and is unbeaten in his first nine matches since moving to the Blues after three mostly successful seasons on the south coast with Brighton.

On Tuesday night Potter and Chelsea sealed progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League thanks to a 2-1 victory at RB Salzburg. The win did however come at a price as goalscorer and man of the match in Austria, Mateo Kovacic, sustained a calf injury.

The problem to the midfielder ahead of the Brighton match adds to the injury issues for the new Chelsea boss as he looks to record a victory against his old club.

Potter said: "We've had a lot of games and a little bit of disruption in terms of some key players missing, but credit to the boys they've responded really well.

"We want to win every game we play, that is the mentality we have to have. We have a game at the weekend and another game the weekend after, so maybe we can rotate a little bit. But we will try our best."
