Brighton and Hove Albion are expected to sell loan midfielder Marc Leonard this summer.

Leonard has impressed greatly during his two loan stints in League Two and League One with Northampton Town. The 22-year-old has made 94 appearances for the Cobblers in all competitions across two seasons to date, with six goals and seven assists.

He is contracted with Brighton until 2025 and the club do have an option of a further year. It is likely he will be sold this summer however with Coventry, Preston, Swansea, Plymouth, Cardiff and Portsmouth all said to be very keen on the former Rangers and Hearts man – according to The Athletic.

Northampton Town, who are 11th in League One, have two more matches to play against Exeter City at home and Barnsley away.

Town boss Jon Brady, speaking to the Northampton Chronicle and Echo, could not praise Leonard enough: "In my time here and from knowing the Cobblers over the years, I’d say he (Leonard) has probably been one of the best players to ever wear a Cobblers shirt.

“It would be great to see fans come down and see Marc Leonard and Kieron Bowie (Fulham loanee) play at home probably for one last time because they are two high quality players.”
