Bexhill buzzing for Vase tie

The Pirates will travel to Glebe in the prestigious national knockout competition’s first round qualifying stage today (Sunday).

Bexhill manager Marc Munday said: “They’ve never been in the competition before so it’s massive. Bexhill United is the club of Bexhill and you should be proud to represent the town you live in.

“When you’re doing something for the first time it’s a bit different and everyone around is buzzing. It’s a big thing for the place and I just hope we’re not going to let the people down.”

Bexhill have picked up four points from their opening two Macron Store Sussex County Football League Division Two games, while Bromley-based Glebe are second in the Kent Invicta Football League Premier Division with 12 points from a possible 18.

“This will be a strong South London side and it’s a game where we’ve got to be a proper team together,” continued Munday, who would dearly like to secure a victory and with it a home tie against Rochester United in second round qualifying on October 4.

Linton Rogers and Josh Elliott-Noye are suspended following their red cards in last month’s league victory away to Mile Oak.
