"CRUCIAL" IS WHAT COX CALLS IT

ADAM BURTON'S 11th and 12th goals for Lancing since he joined from Southwick in late September earned what Lancing boss Mark Cox earmarked as "A crucial result" as well as an excellent one on Saturday.

Improving Heath could have put more points between they and Lancers at the bottom end of the table if Burton had not struck in the 19th minute, then with almost the last kick of the game.

He eluded his man to net with an unmarked header from Graham Martin's corner, then latched onto a speculative ball out of a Lancing defence under pressure for most of the second half.

"Heath had a real go at us after half-time," said Cox, "but we did what other sides have done to us this season, and pinched a goal out of the situation.

"But we were comfortable and it's no coincidence that we're more organised at the back since keeper Phil Reid has been with us."

Martin hit a Broadbridge post, a Brett Court header met with a marvellous save and Heath survived two goalmouth scrambles.
