Crows celebrate trophy triumph

CROWHURST Park ended the season on a high by lifting the East Sussex Cricket League Golden Galleon Trophy for the second time in four years.

The Crows made up for falling away in the league by romping to a 66-run win over Division One counterparts Ringmer on a hot afternoon at Glynde.

Losing the toss, skipper Paul Brookes was a little bemused by Ringmer's decision to field first on what appeared to be an outstanding batting pitch. Brookes (36) and Martin Barry (23) got the innings off to a rapid start but it was the performance of Michael Legg that really saw them take the upper hand as he smashed six sixes and three fours in a knock of 58.

Victor Walcott (35) piled on the runs as Park were dismissed for 201.

Park got off to a flyer in the field as Keith Hobbs (3-21) and Legg (2-44) reduced the holders to 16-3.

Ringmer never really recovered and were shot out for 135. Brookes (2-23) and Graham Corke (2-22) were the other wicket takers.
