Martin Hopkins hit 25 and Ben Thatcher (19) and Chris Francis (18) also contributed. Thatcher then claimed 4-53 as Portslade struggled to 135 all out.

Wisborough captain James Self hailed his side for their successful season despite missing out on promotion, and the skipper believes they have made another important step in progressing the club.

He said: “I’d like to congratulate all of the players on the effort they’ve put into this year and I feel that we can really take pride in our season.

“Obviously it was a shame to miss out on promotion, but congratulations to both Portslade and Steyning for showing the consistency required across an 18-game season.

“However, I am extremely pleased to have finished third, and this certainly provides a great foundation as we look to continually take the club forward.

“A special mention for Ben Thatcher who really had a stand-out season with the ball; leading the league with 57 wickets in 16 games.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed captaining the side this year and am extremely proud of every single one of the guys. An exciting 2015 season awaits.”
