The side cruised to victory away at local rivals Wisborough Green on Saturday to stay top of the Division 3 (West) table and then beat title rivals Stirlands the following day in the Gray Nicholls T20 Cup to set up a meeting at Roffey in the next round (on June 30).

Williams said: “We’re 15 points clear of Stirlands now and beating them in the cup with a few players missing was really pleasing.

“We are now in a great position and the aim definitely for us is to win the league now. I think it’s between us and Stirlands.”

Having hit 70 in 58 balls in the six-wicket win over Wisborough Green - ‘Hurst’s fifth straight victory - Sri Lankan overseas player Dhanushka Mitipolaarachi was again the star performer in the T20 with 81 as they chased down Stirlands’ 147-4.

Williams and Andy Barr bowled miserly spells, while Sean Heather hit an unbeaten 56 for Stirlands.

Other Gray Nicholls fixtures see Horsham host Chichester, and Middleton or Pulborough at home to Cuckfield.
