Littlehampton skipper Rive calls for a batting improvement

LITTLEHAMPTON Cricket Club captain Dan Rive has warned his side they need to start putting up competitive totals if they want to win matches.

A seven-wicket defeat at league leaders Portslade on Saturday has left Littlehampton bottom of Division 1 of the West Sussex Invitation League after three defeats from their opening three games.

After being relegated from the Sussex League last season, Littlehampton were hoping to compete for the title this campaign, but a poor start has left them at the opposite end of the scale.

Rive said: “I sound like a stuck record by saying it, but it’s never enough runs and something we have got to work on and change rather rapidly.

“We need to stop putting poor totals up as it just puts no pressure on the opposition.

“We just have to move on and play the next game. We have Selsey, Clymping and Southwick over the next few weeks and need to take something from them, desperately.”
