COX GETS COUNTY CALL

SUSSEX are co-coached by Worthing RFC head of rugby Ian Davies and go into the County Championship defending their No 5 ranking in the top tier.

They face 12th-ranked Kent at Worthing's Roundstone Lane on Saturday (3pm) and include six of Davies' London 2 South championship winning side.

The Sussex 22 named by Davies and co-coach Andy Turner, the former Chichester player, has a starting XV containing six Worthing players from their London 2 South-winning squad. The other 11 are from Haywards Heath who on Saturday became Sussex's first club to reach the National League when they defeated Reading 34-21 in their play-off.

A seventh Worthing player would have been lock Charlie McGowan but he broke his nose when Sussex beat Hampshire, from the County Championship lower tier, 38-31 under Worthing floodlights last Wednesday.
