A six-goal thriller ended all square as Horsham Ladies Hockey Firsts earned a point at home to Chelmsford on Saturday in what was their last match before the winter break.

Any thoughts that it would be an easy ride against the Conference East’s bottom side were soon expelled when Chelmsford went 2-0 up in 26 minutes.

Horsham’s top scorer Steph Dent scored a vital goal from open play just before half-time to make it 2-1.

Suzy Clapp levelled the scores not long after the restart from a penalty stroke, but the visitors came again and again went ahead, scoring their second penalty corner of the match.

Midfielder Clapp though grabbed her second as she converted a Horsham penalty corner just after the hour, and it stayed 3-3 as both sides settled for a point.

Following last week’s 4-0 win over Ipswich, Horsham are now two unbeaten.

They go into the winter break in eighth position in the Conference East table but on equal points with second-bottom Ipswich.

They now turn their attentions to playing indoor hockey.
