Broad Oak School swims into big time

Broad Oak County Primary School's mixed team had a brilliant win in the mixed stroke relay at the Sussex round of the Bazuka National Schools Championships at the Triangle, Burgess Hill.

The team put up a personal best time of 1.12.93, keeping the lead from start to finish, and it also finished fourth in the freestyle relay with another PB of 1.05.88.

The mixed team has now qualified for the divisional round in both the freestyle relay and the mixed stroke relay against Dorset and Hampshire teams in Southampton on April 23.

It was the first time Broad Oak had entered the championships, with a mixed team of three girls and one boy competing against the Sussex small schools and an all boys relay team competing against the Sussex school boys teams. The boys team swam well against strong opposition, clocking a PB of 1.16.93 in the freestyle relay.

The team members were Rebekah Chapman, Alexandra Tappenden, Jonathan Winter, Tabitha Reed, Lizzie Miller, Dan Miller, Alex Borg, Ben Budgen and Steven Moss.
