With just over seven weeks to go until the Hastings Lions Club-organised event on Sunday March 23, the total number of competitors is just above normal for this time of year.

Entries are coming in very fast at the moment with roughly 300 runners signing up for the 13.1-mile race each week. Organisers will start sending out race numbers and information on Monday, and on a weekly basis thereafter, which tends to breed more entries.

Entries for the 24th Saga-sponsored Mini-Run - a 2.5-kilometre race along the seafront for children aged 11-16 - are close to 50 at present. With numbers limited to 200, anybody wishing to take part is advised not to leave it too late, particularly as entries aren’t accepted on the day.

All finishers will receive medals, and awards will be given to the first three boys and girls in three age categories. Entry forms are available at sports shops and centres or you can enter online at www.hastings-half.co.uk
