Yvonne Robertson House is a sheltered housing complex and manager Marjorie Doherty said the Summer Fair had attracted a lot of visitors, the weather had been kind to them and they raised over 1,000, which Marjorie said was "wonderful".

She added: "It's our best ever result and it's very exciting. We've had a good turn-out and the weather's stayed good, despite a few ominous looking black clouds."

Marjorie also expressed her thanks to all who had helped at the event and said that the money raised from the fair will be shared between a variety of charities: "I'd like to thank all the staff, residents and their families for helping at the fair and for the many kind donations of items for the stalls. The money we've raised will be split, with twenty five percent going to Sussex Housing and Care, one hundred pounds to a yet to be decided local charity, and the rest to the Yvonne Robertson 'comfort fund' '“ which provides residents with outings, Christmas dinners etc."
