WW2 rifle shells discovered

Live rifle shells were discovered by a beachcomber using a metal detector.

They are throught to be WW2 remnants and were found on Bank Holiday Monday at the beach opposite the Sackville by a member of the public who then contacted Station Officer Dick Rowsell of Bexhill Coastguard.

The find was secured by Bexhill Coastguard until Sussex Police arrived to remove them. Deputy Station Officer Gary Tidman commented: "Live and spent ammunition can sometimes wash up on the beach, as can other types of ordnance. If you find an item on the beach that you suspect maybe dangerous, keep a safe distance away, make a note of the location and dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard".
