Woman hurt as car overturns

A WOMAN driving towards Eastbourne at 3am on Sunday was seriously injured when she hit a bank near Exceat Bridge and flipped her car on its roof.

People living near the Golden Galleon at Exceat said they were woken by the sound of screams.

It is believed a taxi driver then came across the accident which happened near the pub on a tight bend.

Police and an ambulance were called and a 32-year-old woman was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital with serious, but not life- threatening, head injuries.

As part of police investigations, a sample of her blood was taken for analysis.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
