Whatlington

Jeffrey Bridges writes: The service at Whatlington on Sunday 18th will be at 09.30am, Parish Communion. The following week there will not be a morning service, instead we will be holding a Sung Evensong at 6pm, followed by refreshments. Hopefully the weather will be kind and it will be a nice evening.

The Village Hall Committee are due to meet again this Wednesday, with the village fête on August 30th at the top of the agenda. Meanwhile, Simon Scarboro has been working on a excellent website for the Hall, which should be ready very shortly: so watch this space for developments.

This spring has produced a spectacular display of bluebells in the local woods (and no doubt everywhere else!). The recent squally weather will have taken its toll as they are going over now, but if you have time over the weekend - when the weather promises to be better - I recommend a walk in either Footland Wood, near Cripps Corner, or Petley Wood, where you can do a lovely circular walk along the River Line, to catch the last of them.
