Wanted: brave young people

Brave young people are among those being sought for the Arun youth community awards.

The annual awards seek to recognise those who have acted bravely, selflessly or charitably in the past year.

Any young person who is believed to have performed a worthwhile task in one of these charities during the past 12 months can be nominated. The age range is between 11 and 19 years.

The awards form a major part of the Arun Youth Council's yearly calendar.

It is a highlight for the council's members to read all the nominations and decide who should be the overall winners.

The deadline for nominations is next January 25. A decision about the winners will be made by the youth councillors the next month.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony on March 28 at the Arun Civic Centre at Littlehampton.

Prizes will be given to the winners and certificates to all those nominated.

The awards are also linked to the Bognor Hotham Rotary Club's Penny awards. These will be decided by Rotarians and handed out at the same ceremony.

Nomination details are in secondary schools, youth clubs, libraries and council buildings. More details from Inspire's community development assistant, Hannah Brooks, by e-mail to [email protected] or 01903 725451.
