The Brookside Memorial Garden Project began last year when Sue Sula, chairman of Brookside Memorial Garden Community Group, took up the challenge to create a memorial garden at a forgotten graveyard in Rustington. It will remember the 57 members of the Rustington community still buried on the site.

Sue said: “Late last year, I secured with the help of Rustington Community Partnership Group, a grant from the West Sussex County Council Members’ Big Society Fund in the sum of £7,800 to obtain new fencing around the site. This is being erected next week, which will secure the site and then I will be able to start the Brookside Memorial Garden.

“Now, we need to call upon likeminded people in the community who would be prepared to offer their services and goods, free of charge, to create and design, construct, donate plants, memorial benches, maintain, etc. Can you help?”
