Volunteers needed for East Preston’s beach clean-up

BUSY hands are needed to help muck in and clear up East Preston’s beach this weekend.

Following a small campaign by villagers, East Preston Parish Council has agreed to hose a beach cleaning event on Sunday (May 26), from 11am, in order to get rid of all the litter that has built up over the winter months.

The day is now being supported by The Big Tidy Up and Arun District Council, and attendees will be provided with bags, litter pickers, gloves, stickers, tea, coffee and biscuits.

It follows in the footsteps of a similar scheme on Climping beach that saw around 250kg of waste collected by around 100 volunteers.

Parish council chairman Joop Duijf said: “We are meeting at the very bottom of Sea Road at 11am, and hope that lots of residents will come along to make this lovely beach even lovelier for the summer.”
