The parish council has worked alongside West Sussex County Council’s library service to provide basic training for the first wave of volunteers.

The library was open from 1pm and 5pm.

This is the first phase in opening up further access for the community to the village library, with the aim to extend further opening hours during the week.

West Sussex County Councillor for Angmering Deborah Urquhart said: “This is a brilliant example of us all working together for the benefit of the community and I urge folks to take advantage of these extra hours.”

Lionel Barnard, the West Sussex County Council cabinet member for residents’ services, which includes libraries, added: “Please show your support for the local community volunteers and come along to see what your local library has to offer.”
