Village Cleaners Offer Free Service to the Elderly and Disabled

NEW OWNERS of Sidley Village Cleaners, John and Vada Barclay, have come up with a generous and innovative idea to help the elderly and disabled in the locality- they will collect and deliver their dry cleaning and laundry for free!

John, who took over the business two weeks ago, has first hand experience of how difficult it can be to walk too far, particularly when having to carry shopping, as a few years ago he had an accident which left him disabled.

He said: "There are a lot of elderly and disabled people living in this area and whilst most can get out and about a lot of them have difficulty carrying shopping; I'm disabled and I know what it's like.

I've already had a good response to the service we are offering and hopefully more people will take it up."

One lady who has taken advantage of the offer already is Mrs Hart of Bexhill.

She said: "I walk with a stick and can't get out that often unless someone takes me. I've had my cleaning delivered from Village cleaners and I am very pleased with the service - it's very useful."

John and Vada moved from Croydon four years ago and whilst they have never had any trouble living in the area, John hopes to boost Sidley's image which he believes has suffered in the past.

He said: "I feel that Sidley hasn't got a great reputation, which is a shame as we like living here."

Along with dry cleaning and laundry services John and Vada also offer a shirt and ironing service.

The free collection and delivery service operates within a five mile radius of the shop.
