With a Wild West theme, Tommy’s Sensathon will kick off by inviting babies to get into character by dressing up as tiny cowboys and cowgirls, before setting off on a Western adventure of song, story-telling and imaginative play.

Mum, dad and baby will visit the rodeo centre, take part in their own sock puppet show, create a cowboy stew around the campfire and hear the story of Little Big Horn in the atmosphere of the Last Chance Saloon. Babies, parents, grandparents and family friends are invited to join the fun, meet other families and get sponsored to raise vital funds for research into pregnancy complications that helps to save babies’ lives.

Event organiser Jacqui Walton, said: “We’re delighted to be part of the first ever Sensathon and promise mums, dads, and babies a play-time adventure they’ll never forget. Everything we do is designed to stimulate the senses and give babies and toddlers fresh, fun experiences in an exciting environment that will keep them smiling all day long. Sensathon will double the fun by creating a special themed day for all the family while also raising money for a good cause.”

The Horsham Sensathon is one of more than 200 events that will be taking place in Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense classes across the England, Scotland and Wales with the aim of raising more than £100,000 for Tommy’s. Every year, 1 in 4 parents-to-be will lose a baby during pregnancy or at birth. Tommy’s funds medical research into the causes of miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, and provides advice and support for all parents-to-be to help them have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Jane Brewin, Chief Executive of baby charity Tommy’s, said: “Sensathon is guaranteed to be a fantastic experience for babies, toddlers and parents alike and it’s a real privilege to get involved in an event where babies having fun will help save babies’ lives. Tommy’s currently runs three research centres investigating the causes and treatments for pregnancy complications, and the money raised by Sensathon will go towards opening a fourth centre so we can support more families on the journey to becoming a parent.”

Horsham Sensathon will take place on Thursday June 26 at St Mark’s Church, North Heath Lane, with three sessions at 9.30am, 11am and 12.30pm. If there is enough demand they will run a fourth session at 2pm.

The Sensathon will also be running in Storrington on the June 25 and Dorking on the June 27.
