Thousands left without water after three burst mains pipes.

An estimated three thousand homes in the Ticehurst, Hurst Green, Robertsbridge and Mountfield areas have no or little water after a series of water mains bursts.

The first water main burst on Tuesday, and was followed by two more on the same mains pipe. South East Water say that the first water main has now been repaired and are slowly putting water back through the system but they do not expect all those affected to see their water supplies returning until this morning.

A spokesman said: “Our main supply of bottled water is available for customers at the 1066 Café on the A21 and we are continuing to replenish stocks at Bodiam Village Green, St Mary’s Church, Ticehurst, Flimwell Reservoir, Hawkhurst Road(opposite the Weald Smokery), the Village Hall, Station Road, Hurst Green and the public car park, Station Road, Robertsbridge throughout the night.”

The company said that all the bursts were on a pipeline taking water from a water treatment works at Crowhurst Bridge to a service reservoir in Flimwell.
