A PUNCH-TASTIC event is taking place to raise money for a disabled Worthing sports fanatic.

The Adur District Amateur Boxing Club is holding a boxing and dinner show on Friday, February 19, to raise money for the Lauren Jones Foundation.

The foundation was set up after Worthing teenager, Lauren Jones, was left paralysed following an accident last June when she fell out of a tree.

Family friend and event organiser, David Binns, of Chute Way, Worthing, said he hoped to raise thousands of pounds for the good cause.

He added: “We wanted to pick a local charity rather than a large charity with their own team of fund-raisers.”

The event, at The Charmandean Centre, in Forest Road, Worthing, includes a three-course meal and 16 bouts in the ring.

Doors open at 7pm and there are tables for groups of eight, 10 or 12 people, with tickets costing £40 per head.

Tickets are also on sale for people who just want to watch the fights at 7.30pm, with entry costing £10 for adults or £5 for children.

To buy tickets, call 07803 190313.
