Thieves flee with birdbath

A Felpham woman has warned other residents to be aware of thieves stealing garden furniture.

Georgina Claridge was astounded to discover that the stone bird bath which had stood in her front garden for two years had disappeared. It stood about 2-3ft tall. She believed it was taken about 12.30am in the early hours of last Thursday. She heard a noise in the garden at about that time and she thinks it was the bird bath being dragged over her garden.

Mrs Claridge, of Walberton Close, said: 'The thieves must have brought a van up here to take it. They could not have carried it down the road because it was too heavy. They must have been travelling around the estate looking for things to steal.'

But she added that the bird bath had been moved around on the garden several times in the past two years without being stolen.
