Talented pupils display skills

PUPILS at Blackboys Primary School displayed an amazing array of talents at a hobbies day on Friday.

Each pupil had been set the challenge to think up a hobby or special talent which they could show to their friends and colleagues.

Acting Headteacher Graham Sullivan said: 'You can imagine my surprise when gymnasts, magicians and even a junior dog trainer turned up at school on the Friday morning.

'The children really impressed me and I was interested to hear them speak so eloquently about their chosen pastimes.'

The idea of a hobbies day is to give each child the opportunity to demonstrate their own unique talents and to celebrate the differences that make the school community such a thriving environment.

It encourages children to take up a new hobby and helps children settle in their classrooms at the beginning of the new school year.

Year 6 House Captain Lauren Fleet, aged 10, said: 'I really enjoy hobbies day as I get to share my gymnastics with the children in my class and I like finding out about new things.'
