Take care out there, say West Sussex County Council

DRIVERS have been urged to take care on un-gritted roads in sub-zero conditions.

Temperatures are set to drop to minus six degrees centigrade in some areas of the county tonight (Tuesday, January 26), and while West Sussex County Council gritters have salted A and B roads, as well as approaches to hospitals, lesser highways will not be treated.

A council spokesman said: "Because the Government's 'salt cell' arrangements are still in force to preserve supplies nationally, fewer roads will be salted than normal, and drivers are again urged to take great care."
