One not to miss this Saturday June 28 from 12 noon till 4pm is our local Sedlescombe school strawberry fair. Everyone is welcome to attend this family fun filled day out. There will be side stalls, bric a brac, dvd and books sales, children’s toys and a wonderful raffle. The fantastic Water Walkers will be in the School once again but there will lots of other activities and demonstrations to keep everyone entertained. On Tuesday July 1 there will be an opportunity to wish Pauline Raymond well in her retirement as she steps down from being the Parish clerk after many years of service to the village and community. Everyone is welcome at the village hall from 3.30 to 5.00 with a presentation to Pauline during the afternoon at 4.30. Refreshments will be served for all those attend.

Great excitement from Sedlescombe Players, they will be staging a Frances Durbridge thriller,’”Deadly Nightcap” from January 29 to 31 2015. There was a read-through last Monday if you are interested in taking part there are six men and four women in the cast, please contact Tara on 01424 870694. Auditions will be held this Monday June 30 at Sedlescombe Village Hall, starting at 7.30pm. New members are most welcome-on stage-off stage-backstage.

St John the Baptist church report that their Patronal festival last weekend was a great success. Someone obviously had the right contacts when beautiful weather was requested for their summer fair last Saturday with the day raising more than £686 for church funds. They would like to say a Big Thank You to everyone for helping to make it happen, flower arrangers, baking and tea providers, grass cutters around the churchyard and anyone who helped in any way. On the Sunday at the Patronal service, it was good to have some of the school children and their parents taking part, the congregation enjoyed joining in with their catchy hymns, making it a very joyful time.

On Thursday July 3 , the monthly Coffee morning and mini market takes place at the village hall from 10am until 11.30am. A chance to meet old friends and greet new ones, there will be, as always , home baking and preserves on offer also bric a brac, books, and plants on sale. Tea, coffee, cheese scones and buttered buns for £1 from the refreshments team in the kitchen. Your company is looked forward to, with all proceeds going towards church funds.

St Michaels Hospice Open garden scheme continues this Saturday June 28 with six gardens in Bexhill Old Town open from the earlier time of 10.00am to 3.30pm. Admission is £5 to visit all the gardens on offer so great value for money whilst supprting this charity. Refreshments will be available throughout the day at Manor Barn along with stalls, morris dancing and music from the band “Glashin”. Full details of all the gardens involved can be found in booklets available now at the village shop for a token donation of 50p.
