Sea Road closed
Sea Road was closed off to rush hour traffic on Tuesday morning as a fire crew responded to a domestic incident.
Police vehicles blocked off access to Sea Road from the Marina and from the junction with Cantelupe Road.
Three fire appliances were sent to the emergency at a lower ground floor flat on the west side of the street when neighbours reported smoke in the hallway.
It turned out that the 91 year old occupant had overcooked some food and then gone into another room not realising that the smoke alarm had gone off.
