Heathfield and Uckfield Community Colleges were pleased with their exam results which transferred well to the latest performance league table - Heathfield gaining an overall points score of 48.5 per cent and Uckfield 46.8 per cent.

Head at Heathfield Mr Rob Robinson said they achieved a record result, two points higher than ever achieved before which reflected the fact that out of 187 students only one failed to achieve five or more GCSE passes.

'The statistic we are most pleased with is the 48.5 per cent which describes performances of all the children in that year group. It allows for high flyers and children of lesser ability who nevertheless have done very well in getting what they got at GCSE.

Assistant head at Uckfield Mr Geoff Evans said their main consideration was that students in any particular cohort received results that made them and their parents proud.

Back in the September the college newsletter reported that the results were a very true reflection of a year group that had done exceptionally well.

'In a way the tables will support the claim that our aim is to raise students potential. We have said many times that realising potential is two prong. Firstly we help students realise what their potential is and then help them to realise it, said Mr Evans.

Mr Evans added: 'We have been very lucky in that our students are very hard working and have terrific support from parents and a dedicated staff. The whole has come together yet again to give us a very successful year.
