Safe raid at village post office

WOULD-BE ram raiders failed to dislodge a safe from the wall outside a village post office.

Attempts had been made to dismantle the alarm, to jemmy open the door and holes were made in the wall of the post office at Isfield.

Police are appealing for witnesses to what they dub 'a particularly destructive attempted burglary at the small rural post office'.

They believe raiders used a vehicle to try and pull the safe from the wall but fled empty handed when the alarm went off.

Sgt Dave Price said: 'The people responsible must have made considerable noise that night. I am keen that anyone with any information gets in touch.'
